Titled: "Close of a Winter's Day", John Elwood Bundy (1853-1933), of the Richmond School of Indiana painters, no doubt painted this work in the Whitewater Valley, Wayne County, Indiana, his favorite landscape locale. It is a serene work depicting a quiet ending of a short winter's day in the woods. It is executed primarily in tones of umber, ochre, brown and blue. The gilt frame with plaque are original.
