This South Indian chair is hand crafted of solid satinwood, a precious wood generally reserved for inlay or veneer. This form of reclining chair was unique to the colonies during the Raj period and used primarily on verandas. This example displays turned front legs and supports for the long, plank arms, with a rolled back and splayed rear legs. It has been newly re-caned in the original pattern. Seat: H 16".
