Maria Martinez (1887-1980) and Santana Martinez (1909-2002) (San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico) Signed: Maria and Santana. A large open bowl, possibly utilitarian, made of highly burnished blackware. Following her husband's death in 1943, famed potter Maria began working with her daughter-in-law Santana. Condition note: small flake on the black slip removed on the base near the signature.
