This impressive pair of armchairs is designed with many subtle details carved into the rather square form. Note the acanthus leaf ears that retain much of the original gilt, and the unusual (almost humanoid) paw rendering on the feet. They are recently custom upholstered in leather, but reveal a bit of the original 17th century leather covering on the backs. Note: one finial missing.
