Japanese Edo Period Lacquered Pine Seated Amida Buddha

A tranquil Buddha figure seated cross-legged with the hands arranged in a meditation mudra with the right hand pointing upward and the left downward; each with the thumb and index finger forming a circle. This early figure is finely carved from pine and retains some of the original color and pearl inlay representing the third eye on the forehead. It in inscribed on the bottom with calligraphy including an inlaid ivory plaque.
