Large West African Iron Gong Currency Trade Object on Teak Base

This iron gong was hand forged as a form of tribal money, found primarily in Western Africa. Iron currency trade items such as this are found throughout the continent and takes many forms including weapons, tools, gongs crafted in standardized sizes to indicate value. It is now married with an antique hand carved teak pillar top base for display as a dramatic sculpture.
