Marked "Potosi; Hamburg" on the back. The Potosi was a huge five masted steel sailing ship built in 1895 by J.C. Tecklenborg. These "Clipper" ships were designed for speed in the fierce competition to transport nitrates to Europe at the end of the 19th century. The Potosi was destroyed by fire in 1925.
